Advanced hip arthritis (primary or secondary OA) Failure of medications or physical therapy Fractures or AVN (Avascular Necrosis) of the femoral head
Duration: 60–90 minutes Usually performed under spinal anaesthesia Muscle-sparing or minimally invasive approach when possible
Walk with support: 1–2 days Return to desk work: ~2 weeks Low-impact sports: ~6 weeks Full recovery: ~8–10 weeks
10–15 years in most patients with moderate activity Lower blood loss and infection risk vs. total knee Easier to revise if needed later
On day of surgery patient is allowed to walk full weight bearing
Patient will be operated under anesthesia so essentially a painfree procedure.
